Bright Ideas and Handy Tips
-Keep fridge doors closed and avoid frequent door opening.

-Defrost your freezer whenever ice builds up. Frost-free appliances use less power.

-Check the door seals are clean and fit properly.

-Ensure there's plenty of room for air to circulate around the radiator panels at the back and that they are free of dust and fluff.

-Keep refrigerator temperatures at the recommended levels. Being set too low means longer running with higher costs and unnecessary wear.

-Save your dish washing until you have a full load.

-Thermowave/ fan convector ovens and microwaves are faster and use less energy than conventional ovens.

-Check the seal around your oven door and make the best use of your oven by cooking more than one dish at a time.

-Use flat-bottomed pots that make good contact with the element and always match your element and pot size. Induction cook tops, radiant elements and halogen elements are far more efficient than solid hot plates.

-The average family will use up to 50 litres of hot water in the sink each day. When you're running hot water make sure the plug is in as washing under a running tap is very wasteful.
