Electrical Engineer

Based in Blenheim, we supply over 25,000 connections through 3,400km of overhead lines and underground cables. Our Network covers a number of very isolated rural areas including the Marlborough Sounds, Molesworth Station (New Zealand’s largest farm) and the Southern Marlborough coast.
 
We currently have a vacancy for an experienced Electrical Engineer in our Alfred Street office.

This is a key role as we continue to deliver a safe, efficient and reliable supply of electricity for the benefit of our customers, shareholder and community.

Areas of responsibility will include:
  • Developing technical specifications for the procurement of major items and liaise with procurement department throughout the procurement process for these items.
  • Carrying out detailed investigations into fault cause and provide suitable recommendations to eliminate recurrences.
  • Assessing requests for connection of new loads, advise requirements/limitations and where necessary prepare designs to accommodate connection of the new load.
  • Ensuring that all work is performed in a manner consistent with relevant legislation and industry best practice.
  • Liaising and communicating with contractors, other utilities, council and other external parties to ensure that all work is of a suitable standard and conducted in an appropriate manner.
  • Providing assistance and support with the management of the network for major loss of supply events.
If you have a background in the electrical distribution industry with experience in the design and construction of HV line and cable systems, managing projects or have actively contributed to project monitoring outcomes, then we would like to hear from you.

Applicants must be degree qualified and a minimum of five years substation electrical detailed design and AutoCAD experience would be beneficial.
