Electricity lines company, Marlborough Lines Limited, today announced it will be reducing its prices and increasing the amount it pays out as a discount, from 1 April 2020. The reduction is largely a result of it passing on lower transmission costs incurred from Transpower.
Ken Forrest, Managing Director, said that the price reductions will differ by consumer category, but the average price decrease across all categories is 2.2%.
In addition to the price reduction, consumers will also see an increase to the amount of discount that is credited to their electricity account. At present the discount for the typical domestic consumer, using 8,000 kWh of electricity per annum, is $226. From next year, this is forecast to increase to $236.
