Annual Marlborough Lines Discount Payment

Marlborough electricity consumers can look forward to a reduced power bill next month, thanks to Marlborough Lines’ discount payments of approximately $12.4 million.

As a consumer-owned electricity distribution business, we share our success with eligible consumers connected to the network through our annual discount payment. Over the past 25 years, we have distributed approximately $182 million in discount payments to eligible consumers.

The annual discount payment amount is dependent on the connection type, number of days connected and electricity consumption across the year, with the average eligible residential electricity consumer connected for the full year receiving $255.

This year, all consumers (including remote consumers who are not eligible for the annual discount payment) will receive a one-off $57.50 payment as a result of MLL selling its shares in Nelson Electricity Limited. This amount is the same for all eligible consumers, i.e., it does not relate to connection type nor electricity consumption.

This year’s payments will be made available to consumers’ electricity retailers from 22 May and should show up on your next electricity bill as a credit.
