Marlborough Lines Energises the Future of Scouting at Churchward Park
Marlborough Lines is proud to announce the installation of a solar energy system at Churchward Park Scouts, providing a sustainable, long-term solution to meet the group’s electricity needs.
Churchward Park Scouts is home to all sections of Scouting—Keas, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers—supporting youth of all genders and ethnicities aged 5 to 18. With around 70 registered youth and a growing waiting list, the group is run entirely by dedicated adult volunteers who deliver a programme focused on Positive Youth Development.
“Scouting empowers young people through adventurous experiences to lead lives that make a positive difference,” said a spokesperson for Churchward Park Scouts. “Our programme centres on personal development, adventure, and community engagement—values that align perfectly with Marlborough Lines’ commitment to supporting local communities.”
The solar system will not only reduce operating costs but also serve as a practical example of environmental responsibility for youth members. Through the community engagement aspect of the Scouting programme, Keas, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers actively participate in service projects, build relationships with local organisations, and develop leadership skills that prepare them to be effective members of society.
The project’s appeal was strengthened by Churchward Park Scouts’ commitment to community collaboration in readily making their facility available to other organisations for weekday use. Marlborough Lines is delighted to support an organisation that fosters lifelong friendships, leadership, and community spirit among Marlborough’s young people.
