Marlborough Lines to make $9.9m discount payment to electricity consumers

Marlborough Lines is a consumer-owned electricity distribution business (EDB). We share our success with eligible consumers connected to our network through the annual discount payment. Not all New Zealand’s EDBs are consumer-owned and consumers connected to those EDBs do not receive discount payments as a result.

This year Marlborough Lines’ discount payment will be made to eligible consumers’ electricity retailers on 26 May 2022. The discount will show on your power account after this date.

The discount payment covers the period from 1 April 2021 to 31 March 2022. The amount of your discount is dependent on the type of connection, number of days connected across that period, and electricity consumption.

An average eligible residential electricity consumer connected for the duration of this period will receive approximately $236.06 (including GST).

Since 1999 Marlborough Lines has made approximately $154m in discount payments to our electricity consumers.

Further information about the discount payment, including eligibility criteria, is available here.
